(also called Principle of Contradiction, Law of Non-Contradiction, Law of Contradiction).— The principle according to which being is not non-being or, more exactly, that one and the same thing cannot both be and not be, at the same time and in the same respect.  This is the first principle of reality and of all human knowing.
