Judgment

1. The second operation of the intellect whereby one affirms or denies something about reality. More precisely, it is an operation that relates two concepts to each other either by way of affirming the one of the other or by way of denying the one of the other. 2. An operation of the estimative sense or cogitative sense similar to the second operation of the intellect but not identical with it. In scholastic usage, when it is used technically in a philosophical context and without any qualification, “judgment” typically denotes the second operation of the intellect.
