Intention

1. A mental being of some kind or the thing to which the attention of the intellect is directed. 

 

First Intention.— 1. Attention of the intellect directed to the thing known. 2. The thing to which the attention of the intellect is directed. 

 

Second Intention.— 1. Attention of the intellect directed to the relations (relationes rationis) formed by the intellect in defining, judging, and reasoning. 2. The relation  thus known. 

 

2. The end or motive of an intelligent agent to be achieved through a series of means.
