Argument

The logical term for the product of the third operation of the intellect, i.e., reasoning. More precisely, it is a set of propositions in which the truth of some propositions (the premises) is supposed to entail the truth of another proposition (the conclusion). E.g.: 

 

(PREMISE) All men are mortal.   

(PREMISE) Socrates is a man.   

(CONCLUSION) Therefore, Socrates is mortal.
