Political Philosophy

(in scholastic usage, also called Political Science or Politics).— The division of moral philosophy that studies the nature, principles, and structures of the political community, as well as the dynamics of different regimes in relation to each other.  Modern political philosophy in particular also studies the nature of representation, consensus, and the nature of citizens’ rights in relation to the political community (often referred to, somewhat inexactly, as “the State”).
