Eudaimonism

A system of moral analysis according to which one’s actions are good or bad to the extent that they lead to or away from happiness, with happiness being understood as perfected activity in accord with human nature. In this regard, and particularly in the form developed by St. Thomas Aquinas, eudaimonism assumes that the natural moral law as the guide of conduct and the cultivation of virtue as essential to one’s ability effectively to follow the natural moral law.  This general approach to moral philosophy was also further developed in light of revealed truth for use in moral theology by St. Thomas Aquinas.
